Dr. Adam Petway
Dr. Adam Petway, who has over 12 years of experience in strength training and sports performance at the NBA and collegiate levels, has joined the University of Louisville men’s basketball staff as Director of Strength & Conditioning.
Petway most recently served as the Horizontal Jumps Coach/Assistant Track & Field Coach at West Chester (Pa.) University since January. There his coaching emphasis was on horizontals, as well as working with Golden Rams athletes in strength and conditioning programs, rehabilitation and biomechanical assessment and analysis for sprints, jumps and hurdles.
He was the Director of Athletic Performance for the NBA Washington Wizards for the 2020-21 season, where he directed all aspects of player performance for the team. In his role with the Wizards, he led the kinetic assessments of each athlete, collaborated with medical staff on player rehab, and designed and implemented training programs for all athletes.
Prior to Washington, Petway served as the Lead Biomechanist for Strength & Conditioning for the NBA Philadelphia 76ers after a year as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the team. There he assessed and contributed to the general physical preparation for each athlete among other responsibilities for the NBA team.
Petway served as the Director of Strength and Conditioning coach for the University of Arkansas basketball program for over four years (2014-18) after a year as an assistant with the program. While at Arkansas, he oversaw all aspects of the Arkansas men’s basketball strength and conditioning program, including its unique performance training for the Razorbacks’ up-tempo style and the team’s nutritional guidelines. He began his career with strength and conditioning roles at The Catholic University of America, The George Washington University, and the University of Maryland before working with Arkansas basketball.
Petway earned his bachelor’s degree in sports science from the United State Sports Academy in 2013. He completed a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in sport management at the Universidad Europea de Madrid in 2017 and a doctorate in sports science from Universidad Catolica de Murcia in 2021. Petway also studied applied data science through MIT professional education.
A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, Petway has taught classes at the collegiate level. His thesis research was focused on neuromuscular profiling and match-play demands in elite basketball populations and has been the corresponding author on several peer-reviewed publications related to these topics. Petway published the book Basketball Mechanics, which examines the physical attributes of the top performing basketball athletes in the game.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Petway and his wife Colleen have two children: Emilia and Harrison.
Frans Bosch
Frans Bosch earned a degree in Physical Education in 1977. Since 1980 he worked in athletics, coaching elite sprinters and Olympic high jumpers and for some years as the national coach for jumping events. Since 2005 Bosch teaches at the Fontys University for applied sciences in sports, mainly in the field of anatomy, biomechanics, strength training and motor learning.
Frans Bosch has given numerous presentations on training related topics all over the world and frequently works internationally as a consultant in sport and as conference speaker on training related subjects. Clients in recent years are the English Institute of Sports, Wales National Team Rugby the British & Irish Lions, Japan National Team Rugby, England cricket, West ham United football and clubs in the NBA, MLB and NFL.
Together with Ronald Klomp he wrote “Running, biomechanics and exercise physiology applied in practice”, published in the Netherlands in 2001 and translated in English in 2005.
“Strength training and coordination, an integrated approach”, is published in the Netherlands in 2012. This book was completely revised in 2015 and subsequently translated into English, French, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.
His most recent work, “Anatomy of Agility” is basically about movement analysis in sport and is published in 2019.
Juan Trapero
Juan Trapero is currently the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid, a position that he has held for a total of eighteen years. Juan, a Madrid native, has a wealth of experience in training elite basketball players and working with teams that compete at the highest level. Over the years Coach Trapero has worked with some of European’s basketball greatest players, like Sergio Lull, Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Rordiguez and to name a few. He has also held similar positions in the professional basketball clubs of Zaragoza (two seasons) and Fuenlabrada (5 seasons) that competed in ACB, Spain’s top basketball league.
Playing a key role in the success of these teams, Trapero has an impressive collection of trophies having won two Euroleague titles, five ACB League titles, five ACB Cups, five ACB Supercups and one Intercontinental Cup.
Juan Trapero was himself an elite athlete and a member of the Spanish Track and Field National Team (his events were 60m-100m-4×100) and has successfully participated in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics (100m and 4x 100m), as well as several European and World Track and Field Championships between 1991 and 1995.
Juan holds a bachelor’s degree in Science of Physical Activity and Sports from INEF Madrid and a Master’s Degree in Sport Training and Nutrition from the European University of Madrid. He is a member of the Spanish Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association and a sought-after speaker in educational events.
Kostas Chatzichristos
Kostas Chatzichristos is currently the Director of Performance at Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. Before moving to Istanbul, he held the same position for eight years at the Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow, being responsible for player athletic development and rehabilitation.
The two times European Champion with CSKA has also acted as a strength and conditioning specialist in elite basketball teams in Europe (Olympiacos BC, Panionios BC) and the US as the head strength and conditioning coach at the University of Georgia – Men’s Basketball.
In the summer of 2021, Kostas joined the Greek National Team – Men’s Basketball as Head of Performance under the coach Rick Pitino and continues in the same position until the present day.
As a co-founder and Director of the Euroleauge Strength & Conditioning Coaches’ Association (ESCCA), he has led the fledgling Association into organization of growing impact in the basketball strength and conditioning community. The ESCCA’s annual Summit has been established as one of the major educational events in Europe, attracting world-class speakers, attendees and companies from around the world.
A frequent speaker and guest lecturer at international and national educational events, Kostas has also authored numerous articles in fitness publications. He has produced educational products for coaches and has been doing consulting work with sports federations and select professional teams. He is also involved in the development of tech products and services focusing on performance optimization and injury “prediction”.
He is also a co-founder at Performance22Lab, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation and performance center – located in his hometown Athens, Greece – where he has been training athletes of all levels, ages, and different sports. He is mostly known for his ongoing work with professional basketball players, as he has worked with some of the best male and female basketball players of this generation helping them perform at their best or/and rehabilitate from injuries.
Kostas holds a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science from the University of Athens and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Regev Fanan
Regev “Reggie” Fanan is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of the legendary Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club since 2015. Before he was named head strength coach, he was an assistant at Tel Aviv for three years and part of the team that won the 2014 Euroleague trophy. Apart from Maccabi, Reggie has worked as head strength and conditioning at the Israeli Women National Team and personally trains elite basketball and soccer players that seek to maximize their athletic potential.
Fanan is a graduate of Zinman school for coaches and the Wingate Institute with a specialization of strength and conditioning for basketball and soccer. He also attended the Tel Aviv University School for Coaches studying weight training. Reggie’s extensive experience in basketball includes him being a professional basketball player for eight years, again in his beloved Maccabi, when he has won three Euroleague titles.
Roberto Iezzi
Roberto is currently the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Brescia Basketball, after spending three seasons in Israel with Hapoel Jerusalem Basketball. During his fifteen year career, he has been an integral part of competitive teams in Italy, including two stints with the Italian Basketball Federation.
In addition to his full-time post, Roberto is the host of Sport Vitamins podcast, interviewing leading experts from around the world in the sports performance field to give the listener first-hand knowledge of how to best develop athletes’ physical tools to have them primed for competition.
Coach Iezzi holds a master’s degree in Sport Science from the University of Rome.
Roberto also has a background as a baseball player, with more than 15 seasons between the first and second division in Italy.
Filip Ujakovic
Filip is currently working as the Head of Performance at BC Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, has completed his fifth season with the team. Despite his background in rugby, where he competed at the international level, he chose to pursue his professional career in his childhood sport, basketball. His journey into strength and conditioning (S&C) began as an assistant with the Croatian national basketball team, leading to the roles with various clubs including BC Šibenka, BC Cibona Zagreb, and BC Primorska Koper.
Throughout his career, Filip has played valuable role in the development of several notable basketball talents such as Karlo Matković, Ivica Zubac, Ante Toni Žižić, Žan Mark Šiško, and Roko Leni Ukić. He holds a degree in kinesiology with a specialization in S&C from the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb. Filip pursued further education in sports biomechanics during his postgraduate studies at KU Leuven, Belgium, as part of his doctoral program. He successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “The connection of local asymmetries of strength and scope of hip and torso movements with global asymmetries of strength and their influence on asymmetries and the performance of rapid change of direction of movement.”
Beyond coaching, Filip is researcher in sports performance, particularly in basketball, where he has authored several publications. He remains committed to exploring innovative methods to enhance player performance and is always willing to share his expertise with individuals involved or interested in the field of sports performance.
Dani Moreno, PhD, CSCS
Dani Moreno Doutres is a Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Club Joventut Badalona that competes in Spanish Liga Endesa and the Eurocup. He earned his PhD in Sports Physiology applied to basketball and holds a Masteris degree in High-Performance Sports.
Besides coaching the historical team of Badalona, Dani is a founder of the DMtrainingpro and co-founder of the ICON training.
Currently Dani serves as a vice-president of the ASEPREB – Spanish S&C Association. Internationally, Dani is recognized as a coach, sport consultant and speaker on athletic performance, sport physiology and injury management.
Antonio Robustelli, MSc, CSCS
Antonio Robustelli is an international high performance consultant working all over the world since more than 22 years with an academic background crossing sports science, strength & conditioning, sports medicine and sports nutrition.
He has worked with athletes competing at the last 4 Olympics and consulted with professional football and basketball teams in Europe (Premier League, Serie A, Turkish Superlig) and MLB teams in USA.
He is also a Faculty Member and Lead Lecturer in the MSc in Applied Sports Biomechanics and Movement Science at Setanta College (Ireland) as well as a Faculty Member and Lecturer at the National Institute of Sports in India.
Ola Eriksrud
Ola is an associate professor at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences in biomechanics and motor control. He also works as a consultant with the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic committee with projects and involvement ranging from technique and skill development to strength and conditioning and rehabilitation as he is also a physical therapist.
As a co-founder and head of research at 1080 Motion he has played an important part in the development and application of motorized resistance technology in testing, training, and rehabilitation. Current projects that involve motorized resistance technology include change of direction assessment and training applications, sprint performance as well as a wholistic approach to muscle and tendon injuries.
To complement and put motorized resistance technology into a greater framework he is one of the co-founders of Athletic 1080 and one of the creators of 1080 Movement Assessment Profile (1080 MAP). As a result, he has supported national and international level athletes ranging from PGA, LPGA, NHL, NFL, ATP, WTA, NBA to EPL, as well as non- athletes. On his spare time, he is a youth basketball coach.

Jiří Welsch
- 22 years of professional basketball career (1996-2018) – including 4 years in the NBA and 7 years in EuroLeague
- 18 years member of Czech National Team – 5x EuroBasket (1999, 2007, 2013, 2015 and 2017), 1x Olympic Qualifying Tournament (2016), captain of Czech National Team between 2012-2017
- Graduated from Northumbria University (Newcastle, UK) in 2020 with bachelor degree in Leadership and Management
- Currently serving as a member of the Board of Czech Basketball Federation, working as general manager of Men’s National Teams and director of the CZ ACADEMY projec
Federico Genovesi
Federico Genovesi is physiotherapist since 2005.
He has been working in professional football for 18 years with clubs (Lazio, Palermo and Manchester City) and national teams (Argentina and Ukraine).
He is author of several papers on sports injuries and founder of the athlete management system Powerset.
Sami Abdel Jaber
After graduating in biomedical engineering in Italy, he specialized in Biomechanics in Switzerland. His passion moved him towards the wide world of medical technology.
In his 15 years of experience, he worked all over the world in the research and medical industry, as well as in the development and release of medical devices to the European and American and global markets.
After the encounter with Starpool, ever moved by the mission to make people feel better, his goal has been to deliver wellness through a scientific method and help to define new products for athletic recovery.
